Indianapolis’ first homes for sale app introduced at Carpenter’s Rally
It was quite a sight. 500 Carpenter agents entering the ballroom of the Wyndham West Hotel to learn what’s in store for 2013. Vendors tell us it’s a sight to them, too. Overall, they agree that no broker has this type of turnout at their sales and awards rally. Mostly, we believe the non-attendees are out-of-town or hospitalized. Okay, I generalize, but this type of turnout tells us they appreciate what they’re seeing and hearing.
This year, no different. Dozens of vendors opened their booths at 9:00 to lines of our agents wanting information, news, tips and trinkets. At 10:00 Carpenter’s David Caveness and HSA’s Burke Smith recapped the many offerings of Carpenters multi-media Home Marketing System, available to agents at no or reduced costs. Then they brought out the big news for 2013 – Carpenter’s new device-specific apps for Indianapolis and central Indiana home searches.
Created by the nation’s leading producer of real estate apps, this was described as rivalling any real estate home search app available. Specific to the device the user is on, the app is intuitive, easy to navigate and features Carpenter’s exclusive HomeSpotter GPS, which displays homes for sale using the phone or tablet’s camera. Just hold it up and details on nearby homes for sale are visible as you see each home through the lens.
Why intro a new app? That’s where the buyers are, with mobile search having tripled just in the past year. Obviously, the Wyndham’s wi-fi was strained as 500 people immediately downloaded the new apps to their iPhones, Android phones, iPads and other tablets.
Following that announcement, lunch and more time with vendors, nationally-renowned real estate speaker David Knox kept the assembly entertained while reminding them of the keys to successful listing presentations.
Let’s just call it a great kickoff to the year in which Indiana’s real estate tech leader takes another huge step forward in providing tools that today’s home buyers find most valuable.
